When you were a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?

A basketball player.

Has there been a pivotal moment in your life?

When I was 16 years old, I came to Australia with my family from Tianjin, China. And it has been an interesting experience of living in a completely different culture, full of challenges and adventures, and a very fulfilling life experience from growing up in one country then studying and working in another one.

What’s your favourite movie and why?

Erin Brockovich. This movie shows how tough life can get and if you do not give up on hope and work hard, you still can manage to work out a solution, and you should always fight for what is right, not just do what is easy. This movie is based on a true story, so it is very inspiring.

What’s the most valuable piece of advice you’ve been given?

It’s actually a set of advice from the Seven habits of highly effective people by Stephen Covey. If I have to choose one, then it’d be ‘seek first to understand, then to be understood’.

What is your life philosophy?

Where there is a will, there is a way.
