New art acquisitions

This week Trinity proudly hung two new additions to our portrait collection in the College Dining Hall.

A portrait of Brian Loton is now on display, on loan for a three-year period from the National Portrait Gallery in Canberra. We acknowledge with thanks for the support of the Gallery鈥檚 director Angus Trumble (TC 1983) who facilitated the loan.

Brian Loton AC (TC 1950) was a past member of the TCAC, and served as president of the Fleur de Lys between 1985 and 1987. He has been an active supporter of the Warden's Circle, and was elected Fellow in 1990, then Senior Fellow in 2012.

Brian鈥檚 extensive career has seen him in the role of chairman of BHP from 1992 to 1997. He has been awarded a number of business, mining and metallurgy awards in Australia and overseas.

This week we also hung the portrait of the Very Revd Father Miltiades Chryssavgis (TC 1952) by Archibald finalist Marcus Callum.

Last March Trinity had the honour of hosting the unveiling of the portrait of Father Chryssavgis during the Sydney Alumni Reunion. The unveiling was held concurrently with the Trinity Alumni and Friends Reunion in Sydney.  The work was subsequently unveiled in Melbourne at the Founders and Benefactors dinner in October.

We invite the Trinity community to visit the College Dining Hall to see these two wonderful new additions to our collection.
