Although all male a capella groups are quite common in America and England, they are considered quite rare in Australia.

‘It will be interesting to see how the style is received by Australian audiences,’ Head Barber, Will Payne (TC 2009), said.

The group was started five years ago by former Trinity resident tutor, Dr Angus Turner, and has since become a much-loved part of the Residential College.

With a widely varied repertoire ranging from traditional barbershop to modern pop numbers, the group has delighted many audiences at performances across Melbourne and around Victoria.

In addition to this, they have performed at charity events including events for the Smith Family and their annual concert at the BMW Edge Theatre, which raised money for i ski for tommy in 2011.

‘Performing with the Trinity Tiger Tones has by far been one of the highlights of my College experience,’ Will said.

‘It also represents a chance to interact with other students and alumni and give back to our local community.’

As well as participating in Australia’s Got Talent, in 2012 the Tiger Tones will also be performing their annual concert for charity, busking on the streets of Melbourne and planning a tour around Australia.
