Dr Maureen Vincent coordinated an inspiring program for Week 1 of the Young Leaders Winter School based on psychology and how persuasion is used in the media, advertising and law. Students learned about the definitions and manifestations of persuasion, its effects on our mindsets and behaviours, and how the mind works on the conscious and unconscious level.
Students watched as a magician created inexplicable illusions, visited the Melbourne Magistrates Court and questioned how persuasion is used by people in the legal system, and worked together to solve a murder mystery. Students also participated in a range of extra-curricular activities such as Bollywood dancing, rock climbing and karaoke.
